During my youth, I grew up as an "army brat". My father was part of the 101st airborne division, he was a Captain and a helicopter pilot. I have great memories of visiting my dad on base and getting to explore many of the copters, like the UH-1 Iroquois, the CH-47 Chinook, and the UH-1 Huey. As you can imagine, my interest in flight simulation means more than just playing a game.
If you are looking for simulation games, the internet can be a big waste of your time. When I do searches and queries, I find most of the information is out of date. So, just keep that in mind, hopefully you wont be wasting your time.
If you are familiar with the flight controls of a helicopter, then you will probably enjoy games that give the user complete control. Some DVD games are more realistic, with intense, fast paced, battle scenes and amazing graphics and background music or battlefield sounds. These games are very entertaining, however, most are not designed around flight control, but rather towards the game. I use a computer based simulation game, it is very different from a DVD type game, but I am more interested in flight control than playing a military game. I enjoy being able to control the time of day, weather, type of aircraft, and even flying out of any airport in the world. When you combine these options with the operation of the collective, cyclic, and yaw flight controls then you realize you have an endless set of options to test your ability
